All you need to know about Scalp Micropigmentation.

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Many men and women experience the desire to want stronger healthier hair at some point in their lives, especially as they age. Whilst eating the right foods can of course be extremely beneficial and important when it comes to our hair’s health, sometimes we need to invest a little further.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a life-changing hair loss solution. It is a treatment ideal for those of us experiencing hair loss and hair thinning. The procedure creates the illusion of a fuller head of hair, adding density to thin hair.

You may have heard of microblading, a form of permanent makeup where pigment is placed directly inside the skin. However, scalp micropigmentation is a procedure performed slightly differently; micro-blading is typically performed with a blade whereas micro pigmentation is performed using an electric tattoo device. Scalp micropigmentation is a cosmetic or medical pigmentation that consists of tiny dots of pigment placement into designated areas replicating the appearance of hair follicles often referred to as a Hair Tattoo. Pigment spacing is determined by replicating the remaining natural hair follicles' growth or recreating full density where the existing one is no longer present.

How does it work and who can benefit?

So, how does the ‘illusion’ of hair actually get created? Well, when micropigmentation is carried out, tiny layers of dots are used; detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the skin. The result then creates the appearance of tiny hair follicles. If you are experiencing complete baldness or extreme hair thinning, we can create a buzz cut.

Scalp micropigmentation treatments can benefit many people. It can be useful and effective to those of us who experience any type of hair loss, it can also add to existing hair whether you have a lot or not. It is suitable and designed for all types and stages of hair loss, skin colours, skin types as well as all ages (must be at least 18 years old).

Perhaps you’re wondering if you’re a good candidate for scalp micropigmentation? Here are just a few reasons why SMP may be a good choice for you:

- Alopecia.

- When hair fibers are too much of a stressful option.

- When you don’t want a hair transplant.

- Follicular unit/Follicular unit transplantation scarring.

- Trichotillomania.

- Chemotherapy.

- Hair transplant results that haven't achieved the density you were after;

- Receding Hairline

- Male/female pattern baldness

- Scars, burns, Vitiligo

The results…

The aim is to achieve a gradual, subtle and very natural looking as well as a long-term recreation/infill of the hairline or density. SMP can imitate a full front, side or rear hairline, it can camouflage the symptoms of all levels of hair thinning and hair loss. After your completed sessions, SMP is expected to last a number of years depending on certain factors such as immune system and lifestyle. SMP will fade over time but you can come back for your touch-ups to enhance your looks and add density.

SMP will enhance your features, creating a youthful look that is designed to correspond with your natural features and skin tone. Maybe you’re wondering what exactly can be achieved?

- Imitation of full-front, side, and/or rear hairline.

- Camouflage the symptoms of all levels of hair loss / thinning hair or Alopecia.
