What can go wrong with scalp micropigmentation?
The biggest risks of scalp micropigmentation come with using an unlicensed or inexperienced practitioner who may not take the necessary precautions. Possible risks include: Allergic reaction to the pigments if patch test was not conducted prior.
Migration of pigment into large blobs- when implanted too deep or too dense. Or even an infection from bad quality products / needles or lack of technician clean working protocols. Being treated by a specialist and well trained practitioner is crucial part or your SMP journey
Can Scalp Micropigmentation be reversed?
Scalp Micropigmentation pigmentation can be removed with an electro-optic Q switched laser, which is used to heat and break-up the pigmentation for easier absorption by phagocytes in the dermis. Scalp Micropigmentation is fairly easy to remove in most cases because the pigment is not deposited as deeply or as dense as normal tattoo ink. Please note our clients never need an SMP removal BUT we often treat when the SMP didn't turn out well elsewhere. In those cases we refer to our Specialist laser removal associate and once unwanted pigment is removed, we can redo the SMP in a correct manner.
